Two Charlotte pastry chefs took home awards at last week’s North Carolina Restaurant and Lodging Expo’s Chef Showdown held on Aug. 29 in Raleigh. Pastry Chef Jossie Perlmutter of Block & Grinder was crowned 2016 NCLRA Pastry Chef of the Year and Pastry Sous Chef Noelle Gogg of the Ballantyne Hotel won the People’s Choice Pastry award. Perlmutter also took home awards for Best Use of Got to be NC Ingredient Pastry and Most Creative Presentation Pastry.
